A "Hands-On" Celebration of the Culinary Arts

Housed in a beautifully restored buggy barn built at the turn of the century, The Culinary Center of Kansas City in historic Downtown Overland Park, Kansas, offers 6500 square feet of uniquely designed and comfortably inviting state-of-the-art  "teaching kitchens."

Previous participants have described it this way . . . "when you walk in, you feel as though you've been completely transported to another place."  They like to describe their decor as "Napa Valley, Tuscany, South of France, Colorado and home, all rolled into one."  Add their exceptional staff and you have a true "recipe" for a very enjoyable activity.  

Each year, they offer over 450 contemporary classes and demonstrations in the culinary arts, covering a wide range of topics and taught by qualified, experienced instructors, so you'll be in good hands! Their goal is to de-mystify the art of cooking and provide a comfortable, non-threatening environment for their students, and for this day we will have the opportunity to enjoy a hands-on experience with the ability to get involved with as much or as little as desired.

It's a "make the group lunch while you learn" affair. This will be a truly amazing experience you won't soon forget!

Featured in the Culinary Center is Kitchenology, a culinary retail shop offering serious retail therapy for your cooking and entertaining "addiction."  They believe that cooking is fun so they've added just the right amount of whimsy and humor to the mix as well. 

You will find everything from basic cooking equipment, to a serious array of cookbooks, and a wide assortment of unusual gift items for your favorite “foodie,” and their Gadget Gurus are always in session to show you around. You can even watch live cooking classes, if in progress, through their floor to ceiling windows in the newly added Santa Fe Kitchen. 

You may even have a chance to help them test new products and sample the great chef-prepared foods they have for sale in their freezers through their popular “Dinners on Demand” program. Their freezers are filled to the brim with frozen dishes from salad dressings and appetizers to entrees, soups and desserts. You may even want to consider stopping by on your way out of town to fill up a cooler!!
