The only safe way to book your rooms for our Association meetings is to use the channels provided on our website.
Our online registration process includes an exclusive room booking system for our meetings. The process offers convenience, safety, and savings. These rooms are discounted as part of the contract between the Association and the hotel.
In recent years, we have seen more “room poaching” – a practice in which third-party companies solicit convention attendees for room reservations.
Poachers often represent themselves as being affiliated with the association hosting the meeting. They may also tell registrants that the hotel room block is sold out and it is urgent that they reserve a room. Other deceptive tactics include distributing materials that appear to be issued by the Association but are not.
Room poachers often don’t deliver on promises to customers. When customers arrive, reservations are non-existent or made for hotels in inconvenient locations. Sometimes the rooms have been canceled and hefty cancellation fees have been placed on the customer’s credit card.
