Case New Holland Announces Layoffs

Case New Holland, based in Racine, WI, has announced it will lay off 150 employees at its plant in Burlington, IL. The company’s human resource director, Lee Schwartz, informed the city of the cuts in a letter to its mayor earlier this month. The letter said the layoffs will begin July 2.

Schwartz cites a reduction in customer orders and decreased sales in backhoes, which are produced at the Burlington plant, and in rough terrain fork lifts. He said the reduction in orders was not foreseeable and it’s unknown when orders may rebound.
