Possible Solution For Farm Labor Shortage
Georgia Governor Nathan Deal claims to have a solution for the massive shortage of farm labor in Georgia and possibly prevent a major agriculture crisis in the state: Parolees from Georgia prisons, plenty of them and plenty of need.
The states new tough immigration law is being blamed for driving migrant field labor from the state and the governor suggest that parolees from the state’s prisons could fill the positions.
Governor Deal said, “There are some 11,000 opportunities currently available in the agriculture community. I believe this would be a great partial solution.” ◆
