Deere Issues More Layoffs
Deere & Co., Moline, IL, revised upward the number of workers going on indefinite layoff later this month at their Davenport, IA plant to 200 from the previously announced 190, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The company, which had originally announced the job cuts last month, also said that all 200 of the workers losing their jobs will be laid off on February 16th. That’s in contrast to Deere’s earlier expectation that some of those workers might receive a temporary reassignment. The layoffs reflect declining sales in Deere’s construction and forestry equipment group, Deere said.
