Deere Merges Equipment Divisions

Deere & Co. announced that it will combine its agricultural-equipment business with its consumer-and-commercial division as part of their streamlining efforts, The Wall Street Journal reports. This latest move will result in 200 salaried-job losses.

The company will create a world-wide agriculture and turf division, effective May 1. Deere will also focus on pursuing cost-savings and growth prospects across the company. Chairman and Chief Executive Robert Lane said the company’s operating approach, which includes a regional focus, has been in place since early 2008. The restructuring will result in $25 million in charges in the quarter ending Oct. 31.
