Agritechnica 2009: The Window On World Farm Equipment

Promising a visit packed with presentations on the very latest in world farm equipment technology is the Agritechnica exhibition in Hanover, Germany, November 10 to 14 2009 (preview days Nov. 8 and 9). Already the seven-day event, organized by the German Agricultural Society (DLG) and long established as the world’s largest agricultural technology show, is defying the gloom and doom of the global economic recession with over 2,000 international exhibitors and some 300,000 visiting experts expected.

Attendance of all major global players in farm equipment production makes Agritechnica the world platform for innovations in this sector. At the last event in 2007 more than 330 examples of new technologies competed in 17 classes for world-recognized DLG gold and silver innovation medals.

Intensely international, but with English as its main language, Agritechnica is renowned as the meeting place for experts in farm equipment production, utilization and innovation. And it features all the conferences, meetings and dialogue that such a reputation involves. Specialist visitors also include expert crop growers from all over Europe and much further afield.

Here’s a show that offers much more than the latest technical breakthroughs. There are informative seminars, forums, congresses, expert presentations and discussions on almost every aspect of farming worldwide. Nor are the responsibilities of environment and climate protection missed out. The World Soil and Water Show is an event within Agritechnica spotlighting reduction of pollution, erosion and agriculture’s carbon footprint with best-practice case studies from farming worldwide.

Agritechnica is ideally sited for international visitors on the world’s largest exhibition grounds (74 acres) with modern air-conditioned halls at the crossroads of northern Europe in Hanover. And the event is also perfectly placed for visitors wishing to see more of Germany’s architecture, countryside, customs and traditions — for instance wives and traveling partners of those visiting Agritechnica. Agrotours located in Virginia, offers a combined package (especially practical for FEMA members and their wives/partners flying straight from the organizations’ Fall Convention in Atlanta). The Agrotours package features hotel bookings and transport to Agritechnica if wished, but also optional daily programs if you want to see the sights, shop, learn about local culture or appreciate European cuisine. Visits include a morning in the European Cheese Centre, the region’s ancient towns, churches and castles, a long Rhine cruise, visit to historical Cologne and two nights in romantic Heidelberg.
