Caterpillar Could Move Tractor Production To Thailand

The Bangkok Post reports that Caterpillar is considering making Thailand or Vietnam the production base for its tractors, said Thailand’s Deputy Commerce Minister Alongkorn Ponlaboot. Caterpillar’s chairman for Asia-Pacific will reportedly visit Thailand next month. The ministry said it will offer its full support for the project as the country has a solid automobile parts and tire manufacturing base.

“Thailand is the world’s number one exporter of [natural] rubber. Geographically, we are also the centre of connection for countries in this region. We are ready for this type of investment,” Ponlaboot said.
