Buhler To Purchase Assets Of Feterl Mfg.

Canadian-based Buhler Industries Inc., is purchasing the assets of Feterl Manufacturing Corp. of Salem, SD. Feterl filed for bankruptcy in 2009, leaving its facilities vacant. Buhler said it is projected to create 47 new jobs in the next three years.

Buhler Industries is buying Feterl’s land, buildings, equipment, tooling, inventory, patents and trademarks. The 145,000 square foot facility manufactures grain handling equipment including conventional (top drive) augers, swing-away (swing drive) augers, drive-over hoppers and grain cleaners.

“Having an international company such as Buhler Industries establish a presence in South Dakota is great news for our state,” Gov. Mike Rounds said. “Getting operations up and running again at the Salem facility will be a boost to the region and the state.”

Buhler said the acquisition will enable the company to expand its line of Farm King grain-handling equipment and increase its auger manufacturing capacity. The acquisition is supported by a low interest loan provided by the South Dakota Economic Development Corporation.

Buhler’s products are marketed under the brand names Versatile and Farm King. The company operates seven manufacturing facilities and nine distribution centers totaling over 1.6 million square feet in the U.S. and Canada and employs more than 800 people. For info go to: buhlerindustries.com.
