Equipment Dealer Update

Western Sales Ltd., a Deere dealer with six locations in Saskatchewan was recently named one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies for 2010. “We’re a rural-based company and as far as I know, we’re probably from the smallest town ever given the award,” said Grant McGrath, the company’s president and majority owner. “In being from Saskatchewan in an agricultural-based company, I think it’s also a sign of what’s being recognized and what’s happening in Saskatchewan and with agriculture.”

Titan Machinery Inc. has announced that it has closed on the acquisition of Tri-State Implement Inc., a New Holland brand agriculture equipment dealership located in Sioux Falls, SD. The acquisition closed on February 28, 2011. Located in southeast South Dakota, Tri-State Implement had served the farming community in Sioux Falls for over forty years.

After 110 years in business at the same location, Knott & Geisbert Inc. Mowers & Farm Equipment in Urbana Pike, MD has closed with a liquidation auction to dispose of inventory last week. The company got its start in carriage construction, and soon expanded its services to farm equipment. The Deere product line was added in 1946. ◆
