A mile wide, tornado packing 170 mph winds has devastated parts of Wayne, NE and left amidst the rubble, the remnants of Grossenburg Implement Inc., a company headquartered in Winner, SD.

“Our business was hit with an F-4 tornado. We had 22 employees in the building and they were watching it come,” said CEO Barry Grossenburg.

A year ago, Barry Grossenburg cut the ribbon on his new property in Wayne. Friday, he got a call that he’ll never forget.

“When the tornado got (to the break room), the door slammed shut and they couldn’t get into the break room. So, they dove under combines and tractors to ride it out,” said Grossenburg. “It roared like they couldn’t believe it and then it quit and the guys actually starting coming out of the break room and then, bang! It hit again,” said Grossenburg.
