ASABE Revises Combine Harvester ISO Standard Adoption

The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) revised its previous adoption of an international standard, ISO 5687:1999, Equipment for harvesting — Combine harvesters — determination and designation of grain tank capacity and unloading device performance.

The new standard, ANSI/ASAE AD5687:1999, Equipment for harvesting — Combine harvesters — determination and designation of grain tank capacity and unloading device performance, replaces the previous adoption, which had no deviations, to one with specific technical deviations. The revised adoption clarifies the standard by removing all subjectivity from the testing procedure. The deviations include additional bounds on test parameters to improve test repeatability and robustness, with the goal of achieving greater reliability and consistency of the reported results, regardless of facilitator.
