ASABE to Develop Standard for Drawbar Hitch Pin Testing

The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) seeks our members’ input regarding development of a new standard for testing drawbar pins on agricultural equipment.

The document, currently designated X625, Testing Requirements for Drawbar Pins, will establish the dimensional and minimum-strength requirements for agricultural drawbar hitch pins used in the single-point attaching of towed equipment to tractors or other towed equipment. In addition, this standard will define loading conditions for drawbar pin retention systems. Application of the standard will assume the towing machine has a clevis and the towed machine has a ring.

Conformance to ASABE standards is voluntary, except where required by state, provincial, or other governmental requirements, and the documents are developed by consensus in accordance with procedures approved by the American National Standards Institute.
