Vilsack Endorses Clinton

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack became the first member of President Obama’s Cabinet to endorse Hillary Rodham Clinton in her 2016 presidential bid. 

“Hillary Clinton has the right policies to strengthen and expand the middle class, is battle tested, and has the experience and relationships to lead and govern well,” he wrote in an opinion piece posted on the website of The Gazette newspaper of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

“Too often the discussion of good jobs fails to include the unique challenges faced by rural Americans,” Vilsack wrote in The Gazette. “Hillary Clinton understands that some of the deepest and most pronounced poverty exists in rural areas of the country.”
