UAW and Deere Agree on Contract

United Auto Workers voted this week to ratify a six-year contract with Deere & Co., deciding that a modest pay bump and increased job security outweighed increases in their medical costs, the Des Moines Register reported.

Deere said Monday that the United Auto Workers union notified the company that its members ratified the six-year contract during a vote Sunday.

The company declined to provide details about the contract that covers 10,000 workers at 12 plants in Iowa, Illinois and Kansas. S
