Association Spotlight: Tillage Council

Association members have asked to learn more about the work of committees and councils. Lucas Sutterer, who is Chairman of the Tillage Council and CEO of Bigham Ag, submitted this overview of the Tillage Council.

The purpose of the Tillage Council is to unite Association manufacturers of tillage equipment, as well as related supplier members, in the sharing of industry knowledge of tillage practices, trends and benefits.

In addition to Sutterer, the council is led by Vice Chair Tim Brunner, Global VP of Sales at Lund Industrial Group, and Don Berger with The Empire Plow Company, who is council secretary.

One of the priorities of the council is to arrange for knowledgeable and talented speakers to present at the annual meetings. Topics at recent Tillage Council meetings have included:

  • “A Global Perspective of Tillage” by John Schweitzer, John Deere Global Manager of Tillage and Air Seeding Engineering, and
  • “New Frontiers in Tillage and Nutrient Placement Systems for High Yield Production” by Tony Vyn, Ph.D., Professor of Agronomy at Purdue University.

Attend the council’s next meeting at the Fall Marketing & Distribution Convention in San Diego. It is an opportunity to meet fellow tillage industry members and learn from an industry expert. S
