N.D. Attorney General Agrees to Put Hold on Dealer Law
The North Dakota Attorney General has agreed not to attempt to enforce a law passed this year by the state legislature which addresses what is commonly known as “dealer purity.” The law also places other restrictions on contracts between the state’s equipment dealers and manufacturers and suppliers.
The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) and several major tractor manufacturers had challenged Senate Bill 2289, which went into effect August 1.
The court consent order issued on August 16 approved the preliminary injunction motion and extended the time for the state to respond to the AEM suit until September 30.
