Perdue Praises Trumps Choices for Key USDA Positions
USDA’s Sonny Perdue last week applauded President Trump’s selections for three key positions within USDA. The president announced Gregory Ibach as Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs (MRP), Bill Northey as Under Secretary for Farm Production and Conservation (FPAC), and Stephen Vaden as USDA’s General Counsel.
Ibach has served as Nebraska’s Director of Agriculture, which Perdue said “places him squarely in tune with the needs of American agriculture, particularly the cattle industry.”
Northey has served as Iowa’s Secretary of Agriculture for the past 10 years. He is a fourth-generation corn and soybean farmer.
Vaden was on Trump’s “beachhead team” for the USDA—the people in place on the first day of the new administration to navigate the transition. Perdue said Vaden understands “the breadth and complexity of the regulatory burdens placed on our producers.”
