Morris Industries Expands Ownership, Restructures Leadership

Morris Industries has expanded its ownership and restructured its leadership.

Ben Voss, an entrepreneur, long-time executive, grain farmer, and agricultural engineer, has succeeded Casey Davis as CEO. Voss joined the company as president in 2015. He will continue as both president and CEO.

“I am truly honored and excited today to be part of the next chapter of what is a historic and iconic company,” Voss said. “The company’s founder, Mr. George Morris, had a vision to help farmers be more productive, and he applied a great deal of innovation and ingenuity to his products and the way he manufactured them. I want to continue that tradition and build on that great legacy with even more innovation and success.”

Davis, who was majority shareholder, decided jointly with Voss to transition majority ownership to a group of investors led by Voss. Davis remains a minority shareholder; he will serve in an advisory capacity and as a member of the board of directors.

Voss is backed by private investors including Avrio Capital and Lamont Brown Group. Avrio has been an active investor in agricultural and food innovation and technology for the past 15 years.

The change in ownership marks a significant commitment to re-invest and grow Morris.

“This sale is a great opportunity for this Western Canadian success story to continue,” Davis said. “There are existing and evolving market opportunities that will continue to allow Morris to grow.”
