Committee Corner: Director Nominations

The work of the Farm Equipment Manufacturers Association is governed by executives from member companies elected to leadership roles.

Each year at the Marketing & Distribution Convention, manufacturing members elect directors to serve three-year terms on the Association Board of Directors. During the months preceding the election, a committee works to assemble a slate of candidates for the full membership to consider.

Mike Kloster of Worksaver leads this year’s Board Nominations Committee. He is joined by John Malinowski, Leon’s Manufacturing; Jim Wessing, Kondex Corporation; Marc McConnell, Art’s Way Manufacturing, and Vince Tomlonovic, Hiniker Company.

The committee’s task is to develop a list of qualified and willing candidates to serve. It seeks individuals in leadership positions in their organizations who have demonstrated a history of engagement in Association work and the farm equipment industry.

“This is a commitment,” Kloster said. “It requires travel. It requires regular attendance at meetings and sometimes frequent communication between meetings. But, it also provides a great opportunity to contribute to the direction of this important organization.”

Directors are central to the work of identifying legislative priorities, growing membership, raising the Association’s visibility, and stewarding its resources to assure it remains financially strong.

“The Association provides an influential voice for shortline farm equipment in the broader farm equipment industry,” Kloster said. “The directors help define that voice, which means the individuals who serve need to bring objectivity and an industry-wide interest to their roles.”
