ASABE Revises Two Standards
ASABE has revised two standards.
The society recently completed revision ANSI/ASAE S315.5, Agricultural Baling Twine for Automatic Balers, which changed the description for the number of knotters and increased the knot strength limit for large square balers.
The revision also corrected the formula for calculating the yield of twine and clarified to discard a portion of center-drawn twine before sampling to determine product strength.
ASABE also revised its standard for determining the volumetric capacity of manure spreaders.
The revision, ASAE S324.2, Volumetric Capacity of Open-Top Manure Spreaders—Dual Rating Method, now includes provisions for end gates, front extensions, side flairs, and other components which increase the carrying capacity of the machines. The calculation methods and supporting figures were also updated to variations that exist today. The previous version did not adequately address the equipment currently on the market.
ASABE members with standards access and those with site-license privileges can access the full text of both standards via electronic download on the ASABE online Technical Library at elibrary.asabe.org. Others can obtain a copy for a fee directly from the library or by contacting ASABE headquarters at OrderStandard@asabe.org.
Association members without access to ASABE standards are eligible to receive at no cost a thumb drive or CD of current standards.
