Pace of Exports Breaks Record

U.S. ag exports soared to record levels in July despite the onset of Chinese tariffs.

USDA trade economist Bryce Cooke said the monthly total was about a half-billion dollars more than July 2017.

“It’s the best July that the U.S. has seen as far as agricultural exports go, the value total.”

For the first 10 months of the fiscal year, ag exports are running $2.5 billion ahead of the same period a year ago.

“The 2 percent increase is largely due to the fact that there is a 5 percent increase in high-value products. Red meats, poultry, dairy products, as well as fruits and nuts.”

Bulk product sales are off three percent, with soybeans down eight percent in value and wheat 20 percent lower. Corn exports are trending ahead of last year.    Source: Brownfield Ag News
