Take a Look Inside Another Plant Operation

The Marketing & Distribution Convention in Minneapolis concludes with plant tours on Friday. Attendees have the option to see the most powerful spin-forming machine of its type built for a U.S. company or a robotic welding system in operation at a farm equipment manufacturing plant.

At Glenn Metalcraft Inc., see heavy-gauge metal spinning in action and learn:

  • How the company incorporates robotics into the process;
  • How it adds features to simplify next steps in production;
  • How it incorporates services such as welding, waterjet cutting, machining, powder coating and e-coating.

Visitors to Glenn Metalcraft also will see Minnesota Industrial Coatings state-of-the-art powder coating line, which uses nanotechnology as an alternative to zinc and iron phosphate.

The second tour option takes attendees to Storms Welding & Manufacturing, which makes dairy equipment, manure scrapers, and trailers, among other things. Participants will see an igm robotic welding system at work on equipment from McFarlane Manufacturing Co.

IGM offers solutions for automated welding, and cutting processes including:

  • Robotic MIG and TIG welding;
  • Robotic plasma/oxy-fuel cutting systems;
  • Friction stir welding;
  • Electron beam and laser systems.

Each tour costs $49 and departs the Hilton at 8 a.m. Friday. Tours return by noon. The bus from the Glenn Metalcraft tour will stop at the airport before returning to the hotel.
