IRS Delays Changes to W-4
The Treasury Department and the IRS have delayed until 2020 major changes to Form W-4—the form employers use to withold the proper amount of federal income tax from employees’ checks.
The delay is in response to feedback from the payroll and tax communities.
The 2019 version of the W-4 will remain largely consistent with the 2018 version, the IRS said. The service will work closely with stakeholders to make the more substantive adjustments to the 2020 version.
In the interim, the IRS encourages taxpayers to review their withholding situation using the paycheck checkup at FarmEquip.org/IRS to ensure withholding is correct.
