Gross Margin Tops 35 Percent Among Most Profitable Members

Among data featured in the 2018 Business Profile & Financial Performance Survey was gross margin, which measures profitability after costs associated with making the product are subtracted from sales and other income.
In the bar chart, the “most profitable” companies are those whose returns on assets was in the top 50 percent.
Member companies who participated in the survey saw their business’s data compared to these survey results and used it to evaluate pricing strategies and efficiency of their operations.
Industry Insights will administer the 2019 survey soon. Association staff does not see company-level data or results, and no member company sees data or results other than its own. Survey reports are available only to participating companies.
