Supply Summit:
Welding Skills with Simulator

Test your welding skills in Myrtle Beach in a simulated experience that blends the real with the automated for a firing-on-all-senses virtual experience.

Participants in this so-called AugmentedArc Challenge will work with real objects and see them overlaid with computer-generated images. You will wear a helmet that uses a camera and sensor to transmit video and positioning data, which creates a realistic welding simulation. You will see and hear the simulation inside your helmet—complete with metal workpieces, weld arc and weld beads.

The challenge, brought to you by Miller Electric and Matheson, is at the Summit registration desk Thursday morning and continues at the Product Showcase. The best virtual welders will be recognized during the “Learning from Legacies” session Friday.

Also Friday, attendees can hear from Steve Hidden with Miller Electric, who will discuss the potential for this innovative technology in welding education and workforce development.
