Senators Call For National Energy Summit
Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND) and Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), along with eight of their colleagues, are urging Senate leaders to convene a bipartisan summit of energy experts in an effort to develop a plan for securing America’s energy independence.
In a letter to Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, the Senators call for a summit bringing together experts on energy policy to present proposals on how America can reduce gas prices, lessen U.S. dependence on foreign oil, and strengthen the nation’s economy.
Senators signing the bipartisan Conrad- Chambliss letter include: John Thune (R-SD), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Blanche Lincoln (D-AR), Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Johnny Isakson (R-GA), Bob Corker (R-TN), Mark Pryor (D-AR), and Ben Nelson (D-NE).
