Reno Fall Convention:
An Opportunity You Can’t Afford to Miss

Known as The Biggest Little City in the World, Reno is the host city for the 2008 Farm Equipment Manufacturers Association Fall Convention, Nov. 5-8. This convention is held concurrently with the Fall Convention of FEWA, a wholesaler’s association, and the Agricultural and Industrial Manufacturers Representatives Association (AIMRA), making it the BEST place to meet new marketers for your product.

Our host hotel, John Ascuaga’s Nugget, is known for its outstanding hospitality. Even more important to our members, is our group room rate of only $100 per night. Where else can you stay at a destination resort complete with eight award-winning restaurants, a full-service salon and spa, year-round indoor atrium pool and a wedding chapel for such a low rate? We’ve all seen the news stories about airline price increases, so this low room rate should help with your travel budget.

The city of Reno and the surrounding areas have much to offer as well. Reno is a great gaming destination so if that’s what you’re after, you won’t be disappointed. Step outside though, and you’ll have a beautiful view of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Just a short drive from Reno is Lake Tahoe, the largest alpine lake in the U.S., which offers beautiful views of the clear, blue water and a panorama of mountains. Unfortunately, with an average high temperature of 49 in November it will be a bit chilly for you water sports lovers. Looking for a place to go dancing? Or would you rather kick back and enjoy spectacular live music? Whatever it is that you are looking for, you’ll find it in Reno.

This year’s Fall Convention theme is The Shortline Advantage: Competing in a Global Market. The advantages our member companies have over larger multinational companies are numerous and include greater innovation and faster adaptation to change.

Our focus at the upcoming Fall Convention is to give you the information you need to maximize those advantages and help you market your product worldwide. In addition to the previously mentioned General Sessions, we will also have a Breakout Session on the European CE Marking, explaining the process to prove product compliance overseas. Other Breakout Session topics include information on ANSI Z535.6, the new standard on Operator’s Manuals and how to increase sales.

The program for the Fall Convention is outstanding and those companies in attendance will definitely have an advantage over those that chose not to make the trip. With General Session topics such as: Making the Most of Difficult Situations: Changing Markets, Changing Times; Food vs. Fuel; What’s Ahead for Agriculture; and Forging New Partnerships: How to Thrive in Today’s Global Value Chain — you are sure to learn something that will directly impact how you do business in the coming year.

Don’t forget about the excellent opportunities for networking with fellow members of the Farm Equipment Manufacturers Association as well as members of FEWA and AIMRA. Whether at the Opening Reception, the Joint Breakfast Buffet, the Joint Networking Hour or the Joint Industry Reception, there are many chances to meet new contacts. Many members have told us that the conversations they’ve had at receptions or even in the hallways have led to business connections.

You can read detailed descriptions of the General Sessions topics, find information on the hotel, see who else has already registered, and of course, register for the Fall Convention on the association website, www.FarmEquip.org. If you have questions about the Fall Convention, don’t hesitate to contact the association office at (314) 878-2304 or email Sarah@FarmEquip.org.
