The high cost of natural gas caused AGCO Corp. to slow operations at its production plant in Hesston, Kan.
The gas bill at the facility in February 2019 was $120,000. This month, the company estimates the bill will be between $2 million and $10 million based on the price per MMBTU.
“As a responsible member of the community, our local teams are working to minimize (our) impact on natural gas consumption in the local area,” a spokesperson said Friday. “These efforts include temporary reductions in operations that will continue until conditions are again at levels that allow our facility to run safely, effectively, and at an acceptable cost.”
