ASABE Project Announced

A project has been proposed at ASABE Headquarters to adopt with deviations ISO 4254-13:2012, Agricultural machinery — Safety — Part 13: Large rotary mowers and withdraw ASABE standard ASAE S474.1, Agricultural Rotary Mower Safety. The purpose for this adoption is to move another step forward in international harmonization.

The adoption with deviation, will add a maximum cutting height when performing the foot probe test which is not in the ISO document.

The US TAG for this ISO document, PM-23/7, voted to approve it and will be the responsible committee if the adoption is approved. ESH-03/2 is the responsible committee for ASAE S474.1. This posting is to inform ESH-03/2 and PM-23/7 of the pending transfer of responsibility of the rotary mower standard. This transfer will only occur if/when the adoption of ISO 4254-13:2012 is approved. ESH-03/2 will remain the responsibility of the committee of ASAE S474.1 until that time.
