ASABE Revises Adoption of Tractor Drawbar Connection Standard

The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) revised its previous adoption of an international standard, ISO 6489-3:2004, for tractor drawbar connections.

The new standard, ANSI/ASABE AD6489-3:2004, Agricultural vehicles — Mechanical connections between towed and towing vehicles — Part 3: Tractor drawbar, includes an additional deviation for the placement of an auxiliary hole for the attachment of specialized implement hitches for PTO-operated implements. The standard applies to drawbar categories 1, 2 and 3.

Conformance to ASABE standards is voluntary, except where required by state, provincial, or other governmental requirements, and the documents are developed by consensus in accordance with procedures approved by the American National Standards Institute. For information on this or any other ASABE standard, contact Scott Cedarquist at 269-932-7031, cedarq@asabe.org.
