ASABE To Develop Safety Standard On Post Hole Diggers
The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has initiated a project to develop a new standard, Safety for Tractor-Mounted, Boom-Type Post Hole Diggers.
The purpose of this standard will be to establish safety recommendations for use and operation of boom-type post hole diggers designed for attachment to the three-point hitch of agricultural tractors. Although many existing standards apply to implements attached to and powered by agricultural tractors, none pertain exclusively and specifically to boom-type post hole diggers. The proposed standard will fill that need and by so doing better meet the needs of those who use such implements.
For information on this or any other ASABE standard, contact Scott Cedarquist at (269) 932-7031, cedarq@asabe.org. A current listing of all ASABE standards projects can be found online at asabe.org/standards/proposed.html.
