ASABE Withdraws Standard in Tractor Cab Wiring
The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has withdrawn ASAE S434, Aperture for Entry of Electrical Wiring into Agricultural Tractor Cabs, from continued publication.
S434, published in 1990, was determined to be outdated and redundant. Feedback from members of the industry indicates that other standards have been developed that are current with technology and include items within the scope of S434. Tractor cabs are currently designed to meet some type of other guideline—ROPs or crush testing, for example—that prevents the material deformation for which S434 was originally written. IEC 61557 is one such document.
