Deere Teams Up with King Agro
Deere & Company has announced a partnership with King Agro, a manufacturer of carbon fiber technology products, to develop and distribute carbon fiber booms exclusively for Deere application equipment.
King Agro produces carbon fiber applications for boating and marine products, including masts for racing sailboats, for a global market. The company recently has expanded its product line to include carbon fiber structures for agricultural equipment.
According to DragonPlate, a division of engineering firm Allred & Associates, carbon fiber is composed of carbon atoms bonded together to form a long chain. The fibers are extremely stiff, strong, and light, and serve as excellent building materials.
The announcement from Deere says that compared to traditional sprayer booms, carbon fiber booms weigh less and can lower soil compaction caused by equipment.
John Deere will offer its 2016 model of the 4730 Sprayer with the option of carbon fiber booms to the South American and Latin American market.
Deere is exploring selling carbon fiber product solutions in other markets in the future. S
