Finances Are Workplace Worry, Employers Can Help

Researchers from the University of Maryland Medical Center have moved closer to answering the complex question about what creates a stressed-out workforce.

The UMMC study found that regardless of work environment or individuals’ work preferences, financial concerns, including job loss, were a major factor in producing stress in employees.

The study suggests that employers can directly increase their bottom line through strategies such as financial education and assistance programs for employees.

The findings suggest that as workers gain financial stability, they will perform better on the job, take less time away from their duties, and realize better physical and mental health, leading to a myriad of benefits for employers.
