Management Principles Drive Improvement

Manufacturers in pursuit of operational excellence are familiar with Lean manufacturing: the never-ending effort to eliminate waste in design, manufacturing, distribution, and customer service processes.

At the Ariens Company, a Wisconsin-based equipment manufacturer of snow blowers and lawn tractors, Lean tools have propelled the organization forward since 1998.

For CEO Dan Ariens, one tool stands out as contributing to the company's success: management principles.

In an article in the spring issue of Ag Innovator, Ariens describes the company's 15 management principles and how they have helped create a work culture in which everyone takes ownership of continuous improvement.
