New Jobs Added In November, Unemployment Unchanged

The U.S. Labor Department announced earlier this month that the economy expanded to add 211,000 new jobs in November, which surpassed economists' expectations by 11,000 jobs.

Among small businesses, however, opportunities for employment were relatively flat in November.

The National Federation of Independent Business found in its monthly survey of small businesses that while 11% of small business owners said they increased employment by an average of 2.6 workers, 10% said they reduced employment by an average of 2.4 workers, leading to a fraction of a percent increase.

The Labor Department and NFIB both reported no change in the rate of unemployment, which was 5% in November. S
