Olson Wins ASABE Award
Brian Olson, president of Power Pin, Inc., is the recipient of the 2018 Evelyn E. Rosentreter Standards award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to ASABE standards and the safety of the agriculture industry.
Olson founded Power Pin Inc. in 1988. He and his company contributed significantly to the field test data collected that led to the revision and expansion of ANSI/ASABE S338 Safety Chain for Field Equipment. And, Olson was instrumental in the development of ISO 21244, the implement hitch standard.
Olson is a frequent contributor to many ASABE committees and has made a significant and lasting impact on agricultural engineering standards, a news release from ASABE said.
“His persistence has resulted in some of his products and designs becoming the industry norm” on tractors throughout North America, the release said.
Olson is listed as inventor or co-inventor on 37 patents. In addition to the practical impacts of his work, Olson’s career has been punctuated with awards including the Gold award and the Sterling Innovation award, both from the Canada Farm Progress Show. He was also inducted as the first awardee in the Power Pin Wall of Fame.
