Port of Savannah Breaks Cargo Record

The Port of Savannah handled more cargo in October than ever in its history.

Georgia Ports Authority reported that the port handled 8.7 percent more cargo in October this year than it did in October last year. The 504,350 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units) that moved through the port broke a record of 498,000 TEUs from March.

“Moving more than half a million TEUs across our docks in one month is the result of new capacity already coming online and the incredible teamwork of GPA employees, the International Longshoremen’s Association and port customers,” said GPA’s Executive Director Griff Lynch.
