Keynote Speaker:
Orion Samuelson
The most honored agriculture journalist in the U.S. will join us for breakfast in San Diego. Orion Samuelson, who’s been dubbed “the American farmer’s best friend for over 60 years,” will share his thoughts on the industry and its future.
Samuelson’s story began on a dairy farm in Wisconsin and evolved into an extraordinary media career. He has been to every state and 44 countries to tell the story of agriculture.
For the past 52 years, Samuelson has been with WGN Radio in Chicago, where he still reports business and agribusiness news 16 times a day.
As Paul Harvey said “Orion could have been our nation’s Secretary of Agriculture under any of three presidents. But, he was too smart for that.”
Samuelson recently wrote his autobiography, You Can't Dream Big Enough, a message that will frame his talk.
The joint industry breakfast is 8 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1.
Disaster Preparedness Session
Five months ago, in a manufacturing plant in Hesston, Kan., an employee opened fire on his coworkers, and a workplace and community were forever changed.
The story of Excel Industries is, unfortunately, not as shocking as such stories once were. It is the responsibility of every executive today to prepare his or her plant for disaster—violent person, violent group, violent weather—and prepare for the days that follow.
The Association is fortunate to have at its 2016 Marketing & Distribution Convention that expertise and experience to support members in this critical task.
Excel Industries CEO Paul Mullet will share his story with members in San Diego. Neal Gregory with Pinkerton Corporate Risk Management Services, will join him. Gregory began consulting with Mullet and Excel after the shooting, and will offer members tips for mitigating risk at their own plants.
