Survey: Farmers Choose Facebook
Farm Futures took a look at social media behaviors among U.S. farmers and found that Facebook is their first choice. Farmers also spend time on Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, Flickr and Periscope, in that order.
Responses from the 1,550 farmers surveyed reveal that about 46 percent of U.S. farmers use Facebook for personal reasons. Among Facebook users, 56 percent were age 35 and younger.
About 9 percent use Facebook for farm business; among farmers younger than 35, that number goes up to 21 percent. Just less than 10 percent use Facebook to advocate for agriculture; again, in the under-35 crowd, the percentage increases to 21.
About 9 percent of farmers use Twitter, with half of those using the social tool for business purposes. Among respondents younger than 35, more than 20 percent use Twitter, with 14 percent using it for business.
About 17 percent of farmers report using LinkedIn. Source: Farm Futures
