Tillage Council Meeting to Feature Guest Speakers Ron Heck and Scott Cedarquist
Our Tillage Product Council landed two superb speakers for its Tuesday afternoon council meeting during our Fall Convention.
Ron Heck will discuss “Calories—Global demand for food produced in the U.S. and how the American farmer should plan accordingly.” Mr. Heck served as President of the Iowa Soybean Association during the development of the 1995 Farm Bill and chaired the Public Affairs Committee of the American Soybean Association during the development of the 2002 Farm Bill. As Chairman of the American Oilseed Coalition, he represented the North American oilseed industry during the WTO Ministerial Talks in Cancun in 2003 and Hong Kong in 2005.
He has been a member of the USDA-DOE Biomass Research and Development Technical Advisory Committee, the National Biodiesel Board, and the Chicago Federal Reserve Board Agricultural Advisory Committee, and a Director on the U.S. Soybean Export Council. The American Soybean Association awarded him the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011.
Also presenting will be Scott Cedarquist, Director of Standards and Technical Activities for the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE). Since 2001, Scott has worked to maintain and strengthen the 100-year-old standards program for agricultural, food and biological systems. In addition, he has been instrumental in streamlining ASABE standardization procedures, expanding the Society’s role in international standardization, and implementing the use of collaborative software for standards development. He also actively participates in the American National Standards Institute and the International Society for Agricultural Safety and Health.
Scott holds a BSME from the University of Illinois and supports land use and farmland preservation as a member of the Van Buren County Michigan Planning Commission.
