Voters Favor Right-to-Work Candidates, Issues
Right-to-work advocates claimed victory in a handful of states last week.
The GOP won control of the state house in Kentucky; Republicans last led the chamber in 1921. This shift of power means Republicans achieved the trifecta in politics with control in the Governor’s office, House and Senate.
Missouri voters have elected former Navy SEAL Eric Greitens, a Democrat-turned-Republican, to his first elected office: Governor.
Greitens’ victory, along with continued Republican control of the Legislature, virtually guarantees Missouri will join the growing list of right-to-work states.
During the campaign, Greitens stressed his support for right-to-work legislation and vowed to sign it.
Meanwhile, ballot questions in Alabama and South Dakota landed in favor of right-to-work issues. Virginia voters rejected a question that would have added right-to-work to the state constitution.
