Watch for Postal Rate Increase
Expect to pay a bit more to buy postage in 2018. The Postal Regulatory Commission is expected to approve a 1 cent increase for a one-ounce piece of first class mail. That means postage purchased at the U.S. Post Office will be 50 cents. Metered mail postage bought through Stamps.com will be 47 cents.
The rate for first-class mail flats/large envelope is increasing by two cents to $1. Postcards may go up by 1 cent to 35 cents.
Consumers will continue to pay an extra 21 cents for each additional ounce.
If approved, the changes take effect January 21.
