You’re Invited: Private Tour of USS Midway
The nation’s longest-serving naval aircraft carrier is berthed near the site of our Fall Marketing & Distribution Convention, and you’re invited to a private tour on Thursday morning.
The USS Midway completed war and humanitarian missions from 1945 to 1992. About 200,000 sailors served aboard the ship. It became a naval warship museum in 2004, and as of last year, it is the most popular such museum in the U.S. More than 1 million people visited last year.
Attendees to the convention are invited to tour the USS Midway an hour before it opens to the public. Participants will board a bus at the hotel at 8:45 a.m. and be aboard the ship at 9 a.m.
The tour concludes at 10 a.m.
While the nature of travel is unpredictable, the ship is near enough to the hotel and airport that attendees with plans to depart by late morning should be able to attend.
Details about the tour continue to take shape, but typical tours include sleeping quarters, engine room, brig, galley, officers’ quarters, forecastle, primary flight control, and more.
