Last Security Updates For Windows XP
With its release of July’s four security patch updates, Microsoft notes that the XP Service Pack 2 and Win 2000 operating systems are “beyond their service lifecycle” and will no longer receive security updates.
This decision has the potential of leaving a huge population of vulnerable machines for hackers to exploit.
From now on there will be no security updates, hotfixes and other updates for Windows XP Service Pack 2 — regardless of how serious a threat any newly discovered vulnerability may pose to users stuck on that operating system. Microsoft has said it will continue XP SP3 support through 2014, but will then end all support for the XP operating system.
