USDA Weekly Crop Report: 70% of U.S. Corn , 66% of Soybeans Good to Excellent
The latest USDA Crop Progress report shows mostly steady field conditions with some week-over-week declines, as summer heat begins to influence regional development.
Corn condition ratings dipped slightly, with 70% of the crop now rated good to excellent, down 2 points from the previous week. Emergence reached 97%, and 4% of the crop is silking.
Soybeans remain stable at 66% good to excellent. Planting is nearly complete at 96%, with 90% emerged and 8% blooming.
Winter wheat ratings declined to 49% good to excellent, down 3 points. Harvest is underway, with 19% of the crop harvested—trailing the five-year average of 28%. Spring wheat also fell 3 points to 54%, with 93% emerged and 17% headed.
Cotton conditions dipped to 47% good to excellent. Meanwhile, 92% is planted, 26% is squaring, and 5% is setting bolls.
Rice showed improvement, rising 4 points to 78% good to excellent, with 13% headed. Sorghum held steady at 61%, and 84% is planted.
Pasture and rangeland ratings slipped to 43% good to excellent, a 3-point drop.
