ASABE Revises Standard on Ag Machinery Terms

The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has revised its standard on terminology for agricultural machinery.

ANSI/ASAE S390.7 (ISO 12934:2021), Tractors and machinery for agriculture and forestry — Basic types — Vocabulary, is an identical adoption of ISO 12934:2021, the international standard of the same name.

Under ordinary circumstances, designation of an ASABE’s adoption of an ISO document would include the ISO document number. In this case, however, the original ASABE designation has been retained because S390 is referenced within the US Code of Federal Regulations.

A previous version of ANSI/ASABE S390 (S390.5) was used as the key basis document for the development of ISO 12934.

ASABE members with standards access and those with site-license privileges can access the full-text via electronic download on the ASABE online Technical Library at elibrary.asabe.org.

Farm Equipment Manufacturers Association members who are not members of ASABE are entitled to a no-cost flash card of all ASABE standards. It is a $695 value if ordered directly through ASABE.
