John Deere will not attend the world’s largest trade fair for agricultural machinery this year.
Organizers for Agritechnica say they expect more than 2,000 exhibitors for the 2021 show in Hanover, Germany, in November, but Deere will not be among them.
The tractor maker said the “future remains uncertain,” citing mutations of the coronavirus and the slow progress of vaccination.
“Despite numerous controlling measures, such as business restrictions, lockdowns and event cancellations, the pandemic has not yet been sustainably brought under control,” said Alejandro Sáyago with Deere. “As such, an adequate protection of world’s population cannot yet be ensured, which would be an essential prerequisite for participation in an international trade fair.”
German agricultural society DLG, which organizes the show, reports that 90 percent of exhibit space is booked.
