Deere to Expand IT Workforce

Deere & Co. announced Monday it will open a new office in Chicago. The office will add 150 information technology jobs over two years with a longer-term goal of hiring a total of 300 people to support IT and other roles in the company.

Deere plans to open the office in late summer or early fall of 2022.

The expansion will build upon Deere’s work to “target IT capabilities in eCommerce, cloud, data, and analytics, and a variety of innovation-related technical skills,” a news release said.

Ganesh Jayaram, vice president of IT at Deere, said about $30 million has been invested into the Quad Cities over the last three years in information technology.

The creation of this office will also help cultivate a local workforce, Jayaram said. He said they have partnerships with high schools and colleges and expect to bring in 10 to 15 students as apprentices working with Deere professionals in 2022.

Deere will receive $4.9 million in state tax incentives over 10 years.
